This past Monday, Lulu went to her forever home. The adopters had the SPCA call us and ask us to come be a part of it. We were so honored! Nathan couldn't make it because of work, but I was able to drive down there for it. I got to meet part of the family which was wonderful. They are fantastic people! Their home is wheel chair friendly due to a family member who is wheel chair bound. So Lulu will be able to get around without a problem. The family also has 2 other rescued dogs. So Lulu will have friends to play with all the time.
The last few weeks have been truly incredible. To see how everyone has come together to help Lulu is inspiring. I cried a lot that night after the realization that after months of planning and hard work, Lulu was now in the perfect forever home. A huge thank you to everyone who played a role in making this happen!

Lulu at the SPCA
When we took Lulu to the SPCA last Thursday, we knew she was in good hands. They had a room all prepared for her with blankets and toys and lots of windows so she could see out. When we went back to visit her on Saturday, the pile of toys had gotten even bigger! Talk about spoiled! We also saw she had an adoption pending. The adoption counselor said the family had visited with her, and it sounded like a perfect match! We could not be more excited! The family sounds great, and they want everyone to continue to be a part of her life! You can't ask for anything more! Here are a few pictures from Lulu's time at the SPCA.

Lulu, the TV star!
It has been an exciting 2 days for Miss Lulu. ABC 11, the local Raleigh station, did a feature about Lulu! They were out here to film it yesterday. I meant to take pictures, but in all the excitement, I completely forgot. Needless to say, Lulu shined! The segment aired multiple times today. We couldn't be happier with the response it is getting. It is only a matter of time before Lulu finds that perfect forever home. Here is a link to the video that aired today: http://abclocal.go.com/wtvd/story?section=resources&id=8468410
Due to the timing of the video, we moved Lulu over to the Wake SPCA center today. While there, she will be cared for by the medical staff and volunteers and be able to visit with potential adopters. We plan to go visit her this weekend and try to be a part of the adoption process. We want to make sure she goes to the perfect home. We will have pictures of her new setup at the SPCA center soon.
Enjoy watching Lulu's tv debut!

So much to do, So much to see...
Lulu has been with us for almost 2 weeks, and what an adventure that has been! She has met new people, new dogs and made several discoveries. Taking her for a walk is always an adventure because you never know what new thing she will find. Lulu is puzzled by the home construction down the street and the giant holiday blowups. She loves kids, staring out the window and playing tug of war with her towels. She even had her first taste of peanut butter last night!
We hope her forever home is with people who enjoy her little discoveries as much as we do. Enjoy this little recap of Lulu's adventures over the last week.

Lulu's new Jacket!
When Lulu arrived, we told her not to expect 80's and the beach every day. Well, after a few nice days, the weather turned cold again and rainy. Poor Lulu would shake on her morning walks. So we got Lulu a jacket! It is a nice red Ruffwear jacket that is fleece on the inside and waterproof on top. Cecelia has the same jacket in blue, and it has been amazing on those cold, rainy days.
Lulu has enjoyed wearing the jacket. She doesn't fight us putting it on (although that has it challenges). It keeps her warm enough for those morning walks, and I think she appreciates that. So attached are some photos of Lulu sporting her new jacket and a video of her and Cecelia playing. Enjoy!

Lulu and her new best friend, Elliot!
Lulu has been making quite a few friends since arriving in America last week. But none are quite as special as her new BFF, Elliot. Elliot and his owners join us every day when we take Lulu and Cecelia out on their long walk. Lulu gets so excited that she practically pulls us all the way to their apartment! They walk together and rough house together. It is 100% adorable! Enjoy the attached photos of the two together. Video will be upload shortly!
Here is the video as promised!

Coming to America...
Lulu arrived form Costa Rica last night, and we could not be more excited. She did fabulous on her two flights but was more than excited to get out of her crate and run around.
She met Cecelia, our dog as well as our bunnies. The bunny meeting did not go so well as the bunnies freaked out over Lulu's incredible interest in them.
We got Lulu setup in our kitchen. We taped down soft sections of cardboard and some soft towel which she loves to lay on. Throw in a few rawhides, and I think we are making it feel like home. She loves to look out the windows and laying in the sun. She made it through her first night really well - no accidents, no barking or wining. She seems to be settling right in. Check out some photos of her at the airport and of her first night in the States.

It's Lulu, our newest foster dog!
Lulu is a 2 year old, handicapped mix who has come to us all the way from Costa Rica. Lulu was hit by a car in August, and her Costa Rican owners were not able to take care of her any longer. She was rescued by a retired American who knew Lulu’s only chance to live a full life would be to come to the States. Lulu’s foster parents were contacted by their friend and offered to help bring Lulu here.
Lulu has done incredibly well considering everything she has been through. She has adjusted to her wheelchair easily and actually enjoys being in it. She has a great personality and loves people. In fact, she has to greet everyone she meets. She loves attention and will often snuggle up next to you to be petted. Lulu gets along great with other dogs as well. She would make a great addition to any family with the time and energy needed to care for a handicapped dog.
